Nick Schey President
Nick was
born into a family of plumbers and small business owners. The company's
title, "S 3," is reflective of Nick's having become the third Schey
to start a plumbing contracting business in Illinois.
Nick
attended Saint Anne School in Barrington, followed by Saint Viator High School
in Arlington Heights, followed by The University of Chicago where he studied
Economics. Upon graduation, Nick was accepted into the MBA program at DePaul's
Kellstadt Graduate School of Business where he studied both Corporate Finance
and Valuation. After earning his MBA, Nick accepted a role
in Oak Brook, IL. as a Senior Financial Analyst.
In 2010,
with several years of solid experience under his belt, Nick began to feel it
was time to move on and slowly began building "S 3 Plumbing &
Mechanical, LLC." With a background in plumbing contracting,
corporate finance, and business development, Nick has been well-suited to build
S 3 into an ethical, high-quality, and analytically-driven Merit
shop.
Nick spends his time outside the office doing just about anything that invoices physical labor such as yard
work, digging, or building. Nick also enjoys shooting pistols, hiking, drinking bourbon, and spending time with his friends and family. Nick
and his wife, Allie, have three young children and three Australian Cattle Dog
rescues. Life is full :)

Allie Schey, SHRMP-CP Human Resources
Allie has a Communications degree from SUIE and has worked for S 3 at various points in its evolution in all kinds of roles. In the early days, Allie helped in the warehouse, assisted with payroll entry, and prepared job costing. While helping S 3 part-time, Allie also pursued a career in Recruiting, Human Resources, and Employee Development at a number of tech startups in the Chicagoland area including Textura, Uptake, and City Base. Her passion has always been all things, "People."
During her time in the Tech/Startup world, Allie was additionally involved in acquisitions and an IPO which involved the successful transition of payroll, employee benefits, communications, and strategy.
In 2020, during the start of the Covid epidemic, Allie was forced to put her career on hold to homeschool her and Nick's young children. That was no small task... Although Allie was busy with the kids, she wanted to get back into the working world and found the flexibility offered by S 3 was the perfect solution.
So in 2023, Allie rejoined the Team at S 3 and her first task was to assist the management team in finding and evaluating outside consultants to take S 3's operations, morale, and decision-making to the NEXT LEVEL. During this process, Allie was integral in the development of company values, recruiting and onboarding improvements, organizing company volunteer events, coordinating teambuilding and employee appreciation events, and more. Allie's "People-First" mindset has been well-received at S 3 and will be key to our upward trajectory!
Outside of work, Allie enjoys horseback riding, snowboarding, country music, tending to her chickens, wearing white sneakers, being the mom of three crazy kids, and a good glass of wine.

Lady Waiting at the Rainbow Bridge
Lady was our second rescue dog and some may (jokingly) say that she was hard to love. But her quirkiness will never be forgotten, nor will her love for dirty diapers.
Lady was a Shetland Sheepdog / Beagle rescue. She enjoyed her toys and bones, and always tried to bury them (even inside the house).
