Nick was born into a family of plumbers and small business owners. 

In the 1960's, Nick's grandfather co-founded the long-standing company "Planned Plumbing, Inc." in Arlington Heights, IL. Decades later, Nick's father founded the residential powerhouse, "Professional Plumbing, Inc." in Barrington, IL. Up until early 2013 when Nick's grandfather retired, all three companies operated completely independent of one another.

The company's title, "S 3," is reflective of Nick's having become the third Schey to start a plumbing contracting business. Needless to say, the three Schey's share some incredible bonds: family, plumbing, entrepreneurship, and a love for dogs.

One could say that S 3's genesis occurred in an estimating room at Professional Plumbing, Inc. where Nick Schey and Tim Mount worked in the early 2000's. Nick spent his time contributing to the company's business and operational analyses while also learning estimating best-practices and completing his MBA at DePaul's Kellstadt Graduate School of Business.

Years later, Nick moved on and accepted a role in Oak Brook, IL. as Senior Financial Analyst with Highway Technologies, Inc., (HT) a private equity-owned, nationwide provider of highway construction safety services and products. In 2010, with three years of solid experience at HT under his belt, Nick began to feel it was time to move on and reconnected with Tim Mount to discuss what would eventually become known as, "S 3 Plumbing & Mechanical, LLC." 

With a background in plumbing contracting, corporate finance, and business development, Nick is well-suited to build S 3 into an ethical, high-quality, and analytically-driven Merit shop.  

When he's not at work, Nick enjoys spending time with his friends and family. Nick and his wife, Allie, have three young children and three Australian Cattle Dog rescues. Life is full :)
